In this text is reflexively studied the phrase “history will absolve me” pronounced for the first time by Fidel Castro in a 1953 speech. First, the word “history” in such phrase would only mean the type of interpretation of the human past or Trans-History. Therefore, we argue that Castro's particular idea of Trans-History is a metaphysical entity, which is (self-)conscious and, therefore, capable of judging, condemning and/or absolving the agents of history. Then, we explain that Castro's philosophy of Trans-History is pro-change historicist insofar as it considers revolutions to be essentially moral and benign. Finally, we argue that the notion of Trans-History is necessarily universalist, as well as self-conscious, autopoietic, and moral. Finally, we reflect on how Castro's philosophy of Trans-History was not started as Marxist and, once it was, it did not stop being metaphysics.
