About the Journal

Metanoia is the academic journal of the Carrera Profesional de Filosofía (Philosophy) of the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya. Since 2023, the journal is regarded as a project of the Department of Philosophy and Theology. Metanoia has an annual periodicity with volumes published during the month of December.

Focus and scope

The aim of the journal is to disseminate research articles that show a substantial, deep, and original academic reflection to contribute to the production of new focuses of discussion in the different fields of philosophy. All research papers that aspire to be published in Metanoia must meet some fundamental requirements, such as rigor in research, clarity in the exposition of ideas and unpublished character. The calls for papers are addressed to professionals, both national and foreign, dedicated to research in philosophy. Manuscripts may be in Spanish or English, and all are submitted to double-blinded peer review.

The origin of Metanoia, founded in 2015, is closely related to the humanist tradition taught by the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, which is reflected in our editorial line, oriented to the critical analysis of social reality in the Latin American context. As such, we aim to put the theoretical heritage of philosophy at the service of the interpretation of phenomena with great impact on society and culture. In this way, Metanoia is presented as a space of confluence for specialized theoretical discussion and analysis of relevant issues within the sphere of practical philosophy, aesthetics, and humanistic studies in the Peruvian and Latin American context.

Metanoia is currently registered in Philpapers, the Red Latinoamericana de Revistas Académicas en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades (LatinREV) of FLACSO Argentina and Latindex Directory. The journal intends to join other indexing systems of international prestige soon.
