Abstract

After close to two hundred years of independence, Peru faces deep social, economic, and political divisions. In this context, the call to introduce significant changes that would result in a more inclusive and just regime has taken strength. The present essay seeks to contribute to this project by reflecting on the possible causes of the current estate of division, with a view to provide some guidelines for the reform of the current regime. To this end, it draws on Aristotle’ political theory, in particular his discussion on political regimes and the characteristics of the best regime to which a society may aspire.
