Violence and the public sphere philosophical
reflections on damage to the social fabric

This essay aims to examine the presence of violence in public spaces in Peru today. Based on the analysis of three cases, the author discusses the configurations of violence in the daily life of our society, as well as proposes forms of prevention and combat of violence within the horizon of liberal democracy. On the one hand, an ethic of empathetic projection rooted in the culture of human rights is developed, which allows assuming the defense of the victims; on the other, it highlights the importance of civic deliberation as an activity that can preserve the social framework against the threat of rights infringement.
